Program Overview for Distance Students

Both the graduate certificate and the master’s degree are available to distance students via online courses.

Distance courses blend both synchronous sessions and asynchronous work, involving face-to-face virtual meetings with your instructor, small group work, online discussions, etc. All assignments and group discussions will be facilitated through Blackboard LearnTM, an online learning environment, and may use other online tools (such as Zoom, Mural, etc.).

Students studying from a distance start in the summer with the advanced graduate certificate program (18 credits), joining a learning cohort, and may apply to continue into the master’s degree after completing the one-year Graduate Certificate program.

Schedule for the current cohort that started in summer 2020 is below (Note: Courses for our distance learners are not listed in Buffalo State’s Course Schedule Website, called Banner, Department will provide Course Registration Numbers so students can register themselves):
